Fire-resistant Glass
Fires can start anywhere, and it’s important that fires, in the event they cannot be extinguished by traditional means, should be contained for as long as possible. Fire-resistant glass is designed to contain flames and inflammable gases, but not designed to prevent heat transfer.

Fire-insulating glass is also available that does the same thing, but also prevents heat transfer to the other side. Our wired glass usually comes with either a 30 or 60 minute fire-resistance rating, but we are able to source from all major glass suppliers if a longer duration is required.

If requested, we can also provide details on full glazing installation solutions to fully maximize the benefits of your new glass. If the glass is to be installed in doors, side panels, or low-height windows, our wired glass conforms to BS 6206 Class C for safety glass where necessary.

Richmond Upon Thames toughened glass services

Express Richmond Upon Thames glazing experts offer a variety of safety glass services including toughened glass installations and replacements. Toughened glass will usually shatter into small fragments instead of sharp shards when broken, making it less likely to cause severe injury and deep lacerations. This is particularly useful for certain frames such as cat flaps, glass doors and tables.

Our Richmond Upon Thames toughened glass normally takes three to five working days to order in for both single and double-glazed options. This glass is recommended for Richmond Upon Thames residential customers, as the glass shatters into relatively harmless fragments upon impact, as opposed to the larger, more dangerous shards caused by breakage of normal glass. However, due to the security risk of having a large hole when the glass has been shattered, we do not recommend this for our Richmond Upon Thames commercial customers, whom we offer laminate glass to instead.
